Expert Analysis
For the 2020 NEC, in an effort to match the already-inplace allowances for Class 2 and Class 3 circuits, Code language was put in place to allow Class 1 circuits to be installed together with the conductors of electric light, power, non-power limited fire alarm, and medium power network-powered broadband communications circuits “where separated by a barrier.” An example of this would be when the power supply conductors and Class 1 control circuit conductors are run in the same conduit to control panel and operate the same piece of equipment, such as a motor controller.
